I am passionate about the high-end TV industry as shows like ‘The House of Dragon’ (2022) have revolutionised the approach to time and place within a series, and the industry is booming with growing streaming platforms. Fabian Wagner has inspired me more recently with his lighting on the HBO series, as he attended my film school and has given me belief in opportunities for me after university. Since I was 12 and I made my first YouTube video, my interest for this industry has grown exponentially. Thus, I have developed a creative flair and self-taught skills in the editorial, production, and post-production sides of the industry, and through working as head of department on student drama and experimental films at university. I was inspired to create experimental films after watching Alejandro Jodorowsky’s work, which first introduced me to colour grading with the deep turquoise sky in ‘The Holy Mountain’ (1973). When watching films and shows, I associate the vibrancy of colours with the cinematography, and I’m interested in creating uniquely inspired dramas through cinematography, developing my own style which explores the power of action and its impact on wider society. Since attending university, I’ve specialised in both editing and cinematography. However, I would like to explore how camera teams work together on high-end TV productions, as my passion for cameras has flourished in my cinematography lessons and directing the photography in my final year drama project. I’m also keen for editing documentaries, as post production holds as much creativity in the finished film as its production. As well as bringing a unique flair and commitment to the industry, I also have good leadership, listening and speaking skills from playing and captaining various sporting teams. I work as bar staff at the Queens hotel away from university, so I’m a hard worker and can take direction, and I’m very excited to learn more and broaden my experience in this industry.
